As soon as I found out I was expecting, I started designing our baby boy’s nursery. Long industry lead times(if you know, you know!) were part of the reason I started so early, but Phil and I were also just so excited. Before even finding out the gender, I knew I wanted a gender-neutral nursery– a place that would be perfect for a girl or a boy and would feel classic and timeless.
The final design hasn’t deviated too much from the intial mood board. I have been loving the Sherwin Williams color of the year, Evergreen Fog, and knew it would be the perfect color for our nursery. It’s so calming, yet interesting! We opt’ed to paint our walls and enamal trim this color. We also stuck with our original selections for the rocker, dresser, crib, floor lamp, rug, acryllic shelves and bookcase. We did decide to go in a different direction for the flushmount(I wanted more of a statement piece!) and the end table(Phil wasn’t a fan). Finally, we chose to swap out the vintage animal drawings above the crib for a fun little gallery wall.
I spent a lot of time researching different cribs and I fell in love with the Abigail Crib by Million Dollar Baby. It’s GREENGUARD certified, can be easily converted into a toddler bed, and is oh-so-charming. It was also super easy to put together. The pillows and throw will go away when baby is sleeping, but it’s a cute way to “make the bed” during the day.
I thought it would be fun to create a little gallery wall above the crib, featuring prints from NorthPrints. The only print that’s not from NorthPrints is the blue striped one that I actually painted quickly myself. The gold frames are thrifted and the wooden frames are from Target(they work perfectly with the wood dresser). In case you didn’t know, you are not supposed to have any glass above the crib, so we removed the glass from all of the frames and have glare-proof plastic protectors on order.
This little reading nook makes my heart flutter! I find myself sitting in this Paxton Rocker every few days thinking about all the times I will be nursing and reading to our little guy here. We had the rocker custom-made in a beautiful performance fabric called Alabaster White. The marble-accented end table and acryllic shelves are the perfect modern accents to this space. To achieve timeless spaces, mixing modern and traditional elements is key!
Finishing off the nursery tour is the baby’s dresser and changing station. My mom gifted us the vintage Noah’s Arc oil painting, and it’s honestly one of my favorite parts of the room. When our baby is born, the faux florals will be swapped out for a sound machine or wipe warmer–you know, practical things! But for now, we are soaking in how cute this room turned out and how much our baby boy is going to enjoy it in just a few short weeks.
